Container Energy Storage System(CESS)

Container Energy Storage System (CESS) is an integrated energy storage system developed for the needs of the mobile energy storage market, which integrates battery cabinets, lithium battery management system (BMS), container dynamic loop monitoring system, and can integrate energy storage converter and energy management system according to customer needs.

The container energy storage system has the characteristics of simplified infrastructure construction cost, short construction cycle, high modularity, easy transportation and installation, etc. It can be applied to thermal, wind and solar power plants or islands, small communities, schools, scientific research institutions, factories, large load centers and other applications.

Container classification
According to the use of material classification
Aluminum alloy container: the advantage is light weight, beautiful appearance, anti-corrosion, good flexibility, easy processing as well as processing costs, low repair costs, long service life; the disadvantage is the high cost, poor welding performance;
Steel container: the advantage is the strength, structure is firm, high weldability, good watertightness, low price; disadvantage is the weight, corrosion resistance is poor;
Glass fiber reinforced plastic container: the advantages of strength, good rigidity, large volume, heat insulation, corrosion, chemical resistance, easy to clean, easy to repair; disadvantage is the weight, easy aging, screwing bolts at the strength reduction.
The design of the energy storage container is divided into two main parts
1. Battery compartment: The battery compartment mainly includes battery, battery rack, BMS control cabinet, heptafluoropropane fire extinguishing cabinet, heat dissipation air conditioner, smoke sensing lighting, monitoring camera, etc. The battery needs to be equipped with the corresponding BMS management system.
The type of battery can be lithium iron battery, lithium battery, lead carbon battery and lead acid battery. The heat dissipation air conditioner is adjusted in real time according to the temperature in the silo. The monitoring camera can remotely monitor the operation status of the equipment in the silo. A remote client can be formed to monitor and manage the operation status of the equipment in the warehouse and the battery status through the client or app.
2.Equipment warehouse: The equipment warehouse mainly includes PCS and EMS control cabinet, PCS can control the charging and discharging process, AC and DC conversion, and can directly supply power to AC load in the absence of grid.
EMS has more important function and role in the application of energy storage system. In the distribution grid, EMS mainly collects real-time power status of the grid through communication with smart meters and monitors the change of load power in real time. It controls automatic power generation and evaluates the status of the power system.
Inside the 1MWh system, the ratio of PCS and battery can be 1:1 or 1:4 (energy storage PCS 250kWh, battery 1MWh).
3. 1MW containerized converter cooling design adopts the design of forward splitting and backward air outlet, this design is applicable to the energy storage power plant where all PCS are placed in the same container. The overall integrated and optimized design of the internal distribution system, maintenance channels and thermal design of the container facilitates long-distance transportation and reduces the cost of maintenance afterwards.

Container energy storage system components
Take 1MW/1MWh container energy storage system as an example, the system generally consists of energy storage battery system, monitoring system, battery management unit, special fire fighting system, special air conditioner, energy storage converter and isolation transformer, and finally integrated in a 40 feet container.
Battery system: mainly consists of battery cells in series and parallel, firstly, a dozen groups of battery cells are connected in series and parallel to form a battery box, then the battery box is connected in series to form a battery string and raise the system voltage, and finally the battery string is connected in parallel to raise the system capacity and is integrated and installed in the battery cabinet.
Monitoring system:It mainly realizes the functions of external communication, network data monitoring and data acquisition, analysis and processing to ensure accurate data monitoring, high accuracy of voltage and current sampling, data synchronization rate and fast execution of remote control commands.

The battery management unit has high-precision single cell voltage detection and current detection functions to ensure the voltage balance of cell modules and avoid circulating current between battery modules, which affects the system operation efficiency.
Fire fighting system: In order to ensure the safety of the system, the container is equipped with a special fire fighting and air conditioning system.
Through smoke sensors, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, emergency lights and other safety equipment to sense the fire, and automatically extinguish the fire; dedicated air conditioning system according to the external environment temperature, through thermal management strategy to control the air conditioning cooling and heating system to ensure that the container temperature is in the right range to extend the battery life.
Energy storage converter: It is an energy conversion unit that converts battery DC power into three-phase AC power, which can be operated in grid-connected and off-grid modes. In grid-connected mode, the converter interacts with the power grid according to the power command issued by the upper-level dispatch.
The off-grid mode energy storage converter can provide voltage and frequency support for the plant load and black start power for some renewable energy sources.
The outlet of the energy storage converter is connected to the isolation transformer, so that the primary side is completely electrically insulated from the secondary side to ensure the safety of the container system to the maximum storage

1.Energy storage container has good anti-corrosion, fireproof, waterproof, dustproof (sandproof), shockproof, UV-proof, anti-theft and other functions, to ensure that 25 years will not be due to corrosion.
2.The container shell structure, heat insulation and thermal insulation materials, interior and exterior decorative materials, etc. all use flame retardant materials.
3.The container air inlet and outlet and the equipment air inlet are added with standard ventilation filters that can be easily replaced, meanwhile, the dust can be effectively prevented from entering the container interior when encountering high wind and sand electrical.
4.Anti-vibration function shall ensure that the mechanical strength of the container and its internal equipment under the transportation and earthquake conditions meet the requirements, no deformation, abnormal function, no operation after vibration and other failures.
5.UV-proof function shall ensure that the nature of the materials inside and outside the container will not deteriorate because of UV radiation, will not absorb the heat of UV, etc.
6.Anti-theft function shall ensure that the container will not be opened by thieves under outdoor open-air conditions, and shall ensure that a threatening alarm signal will be generated when thieves try to open the container, and at the same time, the alarm will be sent to the background through remote communication, and the alarm function can be shielded by the user.
7.The container standard unit has its own independent power supply system, temperature control system, heat insulation system, flame retardant system, fire alarm system, mechanical chain system, escape system, emergency system, fire fighting system and other automatic control and guarantee system.
