مقدمة

Inner Mongolia is the richest region in China in terms of wind resources and the closest to the country's electricity load, making it ideal for the development of mega wind power bases.

Because of its unique wind resources, it has become a haven for investment companies to capture wind power projects. The most representative of these projects is the first phase of the Wulanchabu wind power project, which is the pinnacle of China's wind power industry.

Construction time:

On September 26, 2019, the world's largest single onshore wind farm, the first phase of the 6 million kilowatt demonstration project of the Ulanqab Wind Power Base, officially began construction.

Total investment:

The Wulanchabu Wind Power Base Phase I 6 million kilowatt demonstration project is the first wind power project to be included in the national plan for clean energy parity outbound transmission, with a total static investment of 36.1 billion yuan, making it the largest single onshore wind power project in the world.

Installed capacity:

The MySE4.0-156 onshore large wind turbine product, developed in-house and deeply customised for large wind power bases, and solutions to meet individual requirements were provided to customers. With a capacity of 1.3 million kilowatts and a total of 325 units, the direct-drive large wind turbines once again demonstrated their high power generation capacity, high reliability advantages and outstanding technical strength.

With an effective wind farm area of 6,828 square kilometres and a technically exploitable capacity of 68 million kilowatts, the former accounts for one third of Inner Mongolia and the latter for one tenth of the country, with an installed wind power capacity of 4.85 million kilowatts, Ulanqab is known as the "Three Gorges in the Sky and the Capital of Wind Power".

Project background analysis:

1. Huitengxile wind farm is located on the Inner Mongolia plateau, high altitude, very rich wind resources, where the annual average wind speed at 10m height and 40m height is 7.2 m/s and 8.8 m/s respectively, wind power density 662 watts per square meter, annual average air density of 1.07 kg/m3, 10m and 40m height 5 to 25 m/s effective wind hours of 6,255 hours to 7293 hours.

2. the wind resources in the Huitengxile region are characterised by high stability, continuity and high wind energy quality, making it the most ideal site for the construction of wind farms."

3. The Huitengxile wind farm will not only alleviate the lack of electricity in places like Beijing and Tianjin, but also form the most ornamental wind power landscape. There are more than 1,300 wind turbines here in Chahar Right Wing Central Banner, generating an average of more than 1.5 million kilowatts of electricity per year, which is abundant, and during peak generation periods, the power plant stores the electricity for backup. As a clean energy source, wind energy plays an important role in environmental protection, responds positively to energy restructuring, fully absorbs the excess wind power load and contributes to energy saving and emission reduction.

4. After the wind farm is completed and running, the safety of the power plant is crucial. During the operation of wind turbines, attention needs to be paid to lightning strikes. The huge energy released by lightning causes the turbine blades to burst, the insulation of the electrical equipment to burn out, and the control elements to break through. In addition, it will also make the blade structure temperature rise sharply, decomposition gas high temperature expansion, pressure rise caused by the leaf tip front and rear part burst damage.

5. To avoid direct lightning strikes on the blades and other parts, technicians install lightning rods and arresters, choose appropriate conductor structures and reasonably design lightning current paths to avoid damage to wind turbine equipment. According to different lightning damage mechanisms, different lightning protection measures are taken for mechanical components such as blades, nacelles, bearings and signal and control lines.

6. The long, cold winters in the Central Banner of Chahar Right Wing are characterised by cold weather, while lower temperatures can affect the normal operation of wind turbines in this region. The increase in air density at low temperatures leads to an increase in the rated output of wind turbines, especially stall-type wind turbines, and overloads; it also causes aeroelastic vibration of the wind turbine blades, resulting in cracks due to structural failure of the trailing edge of the blades.

7. In the southern region mainly anti-corrosion, while the Inner Mongolia region is mainly anti-low temperature. Low temperature has a greater impact on the inverter, low temperature also has an impact on the transmission, in response to the adverse impact of low temperature problems on wind turbines, according to climate information, from improving the performance of wind turbines with the use of technical improvements, research applicable to low temperature environmental conditions of wind turbine technical standards and design specifications, to reduce technical risks.

8. Wind farm power also affects the stable operation of the grid and the reliability of the power supply system. To ensure safe operation, accurate forecasts of wind farm power generation in the short and medium term can effectively reduce the cost of wind power systems and provide a reliable basis for grid operation and dispatch, escorting the development of wind energy in a good and fast way.
